Gray Public Works Director Steve LaVallee, and Public Works crew Phil Andrukaitis and Charlie Kimball prepare to erect the long-awaited Wildlife refuge sign on Route 100 south of Gray Plaza.
In 1986, Gray resident Ardena Manahan gifted 8 acres of land to the Town of Gray, asked that it be designated the Julian Davies Manahan Wildlife Refuge, and that a suitable sign be erected to designate the land accordingly. In 2001, The Monument was researching town-owned property and discovered that the refuge existed, but the sign was never erected. In March of 2002, Mrs. Manahan's wish was fulfilled.

This Post Office Box at the Dead River Store in Dry Mills was backed into by an oil truck from Hermon, Maine in January. The box was replaced within a month by the Postal Service. Other locations from which patrons can mail are at Cole Farms on Route 100 north of Gray Corner, and Gray Plaza south of Gray Corner, as well as the new Postal facility on Route 100 next to Walker's Tire.
