Do you want increased police patrol levels?

If you live in Gray or New Gloucester, officials will soon be scheduling a public hearing to see whether you want to pay for a law enforcement officer to patrol your town. The cost to each individual town would be about $115,000.

Last June, officials had surveyed citizens and 71% had said they were satisfied with current patrol levels. The second survey question was, "If you were to improve current services, which would you prefer?" 59% of New Gloucester citizens said round the clock patrols and 62% in Gray said the same. The contract being considered would be for 40 hours per week.
